Ammonia is one of the most toxic substances you can have in an aquarium so it is important you reguarly test for ammonia and when detected act to remove or reduce the ammonia levels. Ammonia is very toxic to fish.
 
Simply dip test strip into the water, move the strip around for 5 seconds, remove without shaking any excess water and keep the strip in a horizontal position for 15 to 30 seconds. Then compare the test strip against the colour chart for a quick and easy test
